5.1.7 & 5.2.1 - Which firmware to use and what are the major differences

  • GainSpan  recommends customers to use 5.2.1 (NOT 5.1.7) as this will be the primary branch we will support long term.

  • 5.1.7 GA is intended only to move those customers that were intending to use 5.1.6 into production.

  • 5.1.x is NOT recommended for NEW designs. GainSpan recommends all of our customers starting designs today to start with 5.2.1 GA

  • GainSpan will continue to support EXISTING customers that are on 5.1.7 GA and cannot move to 5.2.1 due to their stage of development, therefore there will likely be another maintenance release (i.e. 5.1.8) at some point if necessary.
